APB exhibition ends with high note



24 April 2011 Sunday - The Academy Of Brunei Studies (APB), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday afternoon concluded its three day traditional industries exhibition. The exhibition which started last Friday (22 April 2011) at the Times Square Shopping Complex, Berakas concluded yesterday (Sunday, 24 April 2011) at 4:00pm.

The exhibition which are held in conjunction with UBD 25th anniversary and to celebrate the tenth year APB producing graduates are conducted by APB third year undergraduates features over 50 research conducted by the students which focused on the traditional industries in Brunei ranging from food industries, services industries as well as crafts and skills industries. Also been featured during the exhibition are research conducted by APB second and final year undergraduates.

According to one of the APB undergraduates exhibiting his research Mohd Zaiem said “During the exhibition the public response are very overwhelming, most of them applaud the APB as well as UBD effort in exposing such traditional industries as they see the exhibition can be a foundation to expose the rare as well as unknown traditional industries which are not known to the public” He also added that during the three day exhibition a Gulingtangan performance as well as quizzes are held for the visitors.

Meanwhile a members of public from Lambak Kanan said “We as public see the students effort are good as such exhibition not only help to expose the students to expose their research results but at the same time it can be a way to help the local Small Medium Enterprise (SMEs) to expose their products to the public through its students.”

This year exhibition was bigger than the previous edition where it saw the involvement of nearly 150 APB students, UBD Volunteering students as well as APB lecturers. It also attracts over 500 visitors from all ages which are recorded during the three day exhibition. The committee also would like to thanks all parties especially researched individuals and sponsors for making the research and event a successful event.
