9 August 2009 (Wednesday) – To further encourage and support Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Rakis club talent, the Rakis club recently organised an appreciation night – “Malam Rentak Rasa”. The event was held at the UBD Female Residential College multi purpose hall.
The guest of honour was UBD Dean of Students, Dk Dr Nurolaini bte Pg Hj Muhammad Kifli. Also present was UBD Deputy Dean of Students, Dr Hj Ramlee bin Tingkong, academic staff as well as representatives from the UBD Student Representative Council (PMUBD). The event was not only attended by those who are residing at the UBD residential college, but also interested members of the public.
The event saw various performances from the Rakis club like the Mahsuri legendary drama, a comedy drama titled “Jangan” and also a special performance by the new UBD students called “GenNext performance”.
The performances were then concluded with a video presentation of “3 premier” in which the Rakis members shot three different movies around the UBD campus
One of the Rakis members said, “The objective of the event was to foster relationship between the senior and junior members of the club. It also helps the students to enhance their skills and creativity in organising such a event.”
The Rakis club members also set up a mini bazaar at the female residential college foyer. Various food items, clothes and literature books were available at the mini bazaar.
The Rakis club is currently under the UBD Student Association (PMUBD) and is supervised by the UBD Malay Literature academic staff. Members of the Rakis club are mostly Malay Literature students from the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS). The club is well known for performing drama shows in UBD as well as at public events.
